My fiance has tried 2 different times to locate the crankshaft position sensor in my pt cruiser in order to replace it. No success. He has the Haynes Manual for it but the picture on there doesn't help. He knows where it should be (according to the manual and reading forums online) but still can't find it. Does anyone have any better pictures or videos that could help? I really don't wanna tow my car to a mechanics and have to pay.

If you are talking about the Crankshaft Position sensor and not the Camshaft position sensor ...........it's on the back side of the engine block, above the oil filter.

If you refer to the several different manuals at the top of this forum you can find links to service manuals for the different model years. Those service manuals have very detailed instructions and pictures, and are scads more informative than the Haynes manual IMHO.

In the stickies at the top - One is labeled "FREE 01-04 PT Repair Manual", another is "FREE 2006-2008 Service/Repair Manual", yet another is "Free Online Service/Repair Manual's 2001 - 2007". Between those 3 links - I bet you'll find the instructions you need. |

I'll let it slide this time..... Honestly, you have to really know your 2.4 and the years. For a while you could get a 2.4 4 cylinder in the Wranglers. It is an entirely different creature! It's similar but different. It's called a "european" engine. Also Chrysler has a new 2.4 4 cylinder that is nothing related to it! It gets a little confusing.
