Default A/C Low Pressure Switch, where is it?

Greetings,
Exactly where is the Air Conditioner low pressure switch? It's not the high pressure switch on the accumulator. Is it the switch on the compressor?
thanks!!

And what's up with the bankruptcy and parts not being available?

your telling me... i have been calling dealerships, and all tell me that in TX everything is on backorder.. Some places have -120 on parts.. now how do you leet that happen. The parts person at chrysler told me that the Low pressure cut off switch, #5058485AA is the one on the accumilator , the one that screws in. Now I have heard it called several names, AC Cycling Switch MT1191 at AutoZone, which is on backorder... That is why I am calling it THE SWITCH.... in which no one
has!

Is the part number for the switch the same for all years? I have a 2001.

thanks for the info on that. I wonder, can you jury-rig the switch and just short out the 2 terminals in the plug and tell the PCM to keep the AC compressor on? (until Chrysler gets this part). We are sweltering in our PT Cruiser, (which is still under warrenty and is not able to be fixed). sucks to be me I know.

You know that is what the dealership told me to do. Can you believe that that. I just got off the phone with AutoZone and they informed me that if I get there by 3pm they can have me the part by tomorrow or Wed.... Big change from what they told me last week. Oh and you don't have to tell me about being hot.... I live in South Texas temp is going to be 99 to 100 again with heat index around 110 ...

Know the feeling, it's been 90-100 for nearly 2 weeks here and the lovely humidity just makes me all the more happier that my AC is running strong.

We've got an arctic blast coming thru today though... supposed to be stormy with highs only in the 80's...
