Default instrument cluster checkout

Turning on the key while holding in the odometer button causes the instrument cluster guages and lights to go thru some sort of checkout procedure...does ayone have any detailed information on this? Thanks.

Thats the built in test for instrument cluster <-> ECM function, as well as testing all the gauges. Any errors are listed at the end of the procedure.

Another test is the "key dance" - turn the key from lock to on (but not start) 3x quickly.

On-Off On-Off On-Off On
That'll read out any ECM trouble codes. Same info as a scan tool, except you need to find the code table - posted ALL over the place.
