I've got an 07 PT Cruiser and I'm having an issue with the airbag light. It started when it's just me in the car I can drive about five or six miles with just the passenger side airbag light off. Then the airbag light for the driver's side comes on. However, if I put say a bookbag in the passenger side seat then neither light comes on and everything's fine. Now the passenger side airbag light comes on when I have a passenger in the car.
Has anybody else had this problem? How did you fix it? Do I have to go to the dealer, or does somebody have a quick fix for this? In His Peace, Richard |

Richard,
OK, thanks for starting a new thread. It makes it a lot easier for someone (like me) when we do a search on a particular subject. Here's some reading for you with air bag light as a problem. Maybe they can help and answer your questions. Air Bag Light Airbag dash light malfunction HELP! Air Bag Light ON ON ON 2006 Airbag Light Air Bag Light

Golly - I know misery loves company but wow. This air bag light has been an issue since the very beginning. While the company from across the pond seems nice I definitely wish it weren't an issue. Here's the summary of what I've discovered from the other posts.
#1 A lot of people have had this problem (foreign and domestic) #2 It's a safety issue and must be dealt with sooner than later. Here's a couple of questions. How much does a US dealer on average charge to check out the airbag and sensor? How often is it the sensor over the airbag itself? What's the going ball park rate for both? |

The sensor, although I'm not sure exactly how much it is, will be a lot cheaper than the diagnostics that the dealer will charge and that varies from dealer to dealer, state to state. Mine charges $90 an hour.
I read on one thread (maybe not one of the ones I posted) that yo should test your horn. The clock spring in the steering wheel has something to do with the airbag and if the horn is not working, the clock spring is or probably is faulty. Other than that, it's probably a sensor or loose wire but as you said, needs to be fixed.

The horn works fine. It beeps just fine every time I use the key fob to lock the doors. I'll have to call around about having it looked at on Monday.
