Default Power Outlet Problems

Hey... just bought a used 2003 PT Cruiser this past saturday.. my dream car, and love it.. only problem, and discovered it today- the power outlets don't work. Going to take it in in the morn so the Chrylser dealership could take a look at it, and maybe fix it while I wait.. but still curious about what might be causing it before I take it in. Checked the fuses, they all looked fine. Any ideas?

hbsurfer6984,

Do all of the outlets not work? There are two in the front. The one near the radio is on all the time. The one near the floor is only on when the ignition is on. I have found that certain cigarette lighter adapters need to be turned in the sockets in order to properly power up (it may take a good 1/4 of a turn or so).

Let us know how it turns out.

Scott

all three werent working.. took it in earlier in the week, and it did end up being a fuse. Had looked at each of the fuses and didn't see any that looked like they had blown. Now my next question is what fuse is for the power outlets? Cant find anything on it on the manual (which was the first thing I looked at when I discovered the problem)

All the outlets are controlled by a fuse inside the engine compartment (20Amp on a 2002)
The fuse panel is right behind the air filter/battery cover (Again, on a 2002)

I was also wondering if snyon knew where I could find instructions on removal and installation of the Power Outlet.

mke,

That's kind of generic question. Which power outlet are you trying to take out? The center console outlet, the floor console outlet or the rear compartment outlet?

Sorry _ Imeant the Center Console.
I removed the Bezel and the switch unit but I cannot figure out how to remove the well from the switch unit housing.
