Default key on board programming

Well, succesasfully cut and on-board programmed a new transponder key blank for my 08 PT. However, the programming procedure did not go exactly as per the owner's manual. Never got a chime when the security light stopped flashing after the first time the new key was inserted and turned on. The new key did start the engine the next time it was turned on and it kept running fine but then the security light came on and flashed a while then the light turned off with a single chime. Next attempt to start with the new key was fine...no flashing light this time. All appears to be OK but just wonder if anybody has a better or different or updated procedure than what is in the owner's manual that works as it should for them. Thanks.

Here's some stuff to read. Don't know if it will help.

New remote programming

Checked several other Chrysler vehicle-specific forums regarding this matter and found that others are having problems with on-board programming per the owner's manual when they get to the last step with the new key. Must have just got lucky in my case because it did not go exactly as per the manual but did work in the end.

That's all that counts.
