Transmission Question

I was driving the other day (at about 40 mph) and then all of the sudden the transmission shifted into what seemed like neutral gear yet I had not shifted it. After a brief panic trying to figure what was going on it shifted back into gear. I was sitting there in stumped as to what had just happened. My wife had experienced something similar she said when driving the PT just a few weeks before.

So, my question is, what could it be? It is still under warranty so I am going to take it in but I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems, know what the issue could be or any ideas, advice, or knowledge on this issue.

The tranny is a weak link in the PT.

Lots of reports of it going out around your mileage as well as sooner and later... ever had it serviced?

I know I just bought mine at 45k miles and one of the first things I did was spend $150 for the tranny flush, because I'm pretty positive the prior owner never did.

It's good to rotate every 30k between a drain and fill and a full flush.

Be happy you have a warranty... definitely get it checked ASAP.

As Travis noted, the tranny is a weak link, especially the Solenoid Pack. Take advantage of the warranty and have it serviced, soon.
