Default PO551?

Power steering pressure sensor circuit range / performance. Thats the code I got. Is the power steering pump shot or the sensor? Not sure where to start looking. Anybody know where the sensor is?

If the power steering pump was shot you would know. If the pump goes out it is a lot harder to steer.

I have the same code. It is one of the MANY problems I am having with my car right now. I just called my local Chrysler dealer today and they told me that they keep that particular switch in stock. I will have to go pick it up for a cost of $37.66. According to my mechanic it is a simple fix. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I got this error over the weekend. Thanks for the pic I think I can handle this one myself.

From PT Do-It-Yourself.net:

The power steering pressure switch is used on some PT models to improve the vehicle's idle quality. The pressure switch functions by signaling the PCM that an increase in pressure of the power steering system is putting additional load on the engine. When the PCM receives the signal from the switch it directs the engine to increase its idle speed. This increase in engine idle speed compensates for the additional load, thus maintaining the required engine idle speed and idle quality.

From my description above, the idle could drop to a level where it would cause it to be rough but only if if your turning the wheel or using the steering system itself. Don't think it would have any affect on the idle if your just standing still not touching anything, but that's just a guess.

OK now that I just cross threaded the part that the sensor screws into how do I fix it? Or replace the whole frigging rack if I have to? Any body think JB weld will hold the pressure?
