Default Does the height of the brake pedal adjustable?

I bought the 06 pt cruiser from a private seller. and he's a big guy.
to me, an asian guy, the brake pedal is too high to reach (although i can reach it, but it's not in my comfort).
is there anyway to extend/lower the pedal? I can drive it with no problem, but my gf can't.

p.s., i have test driven other pt cruiser and those brake pedals r not as high as this one.

I've not heard of anyone adjusting the brake pedal itself but doesn't mean it can't. Have you tried asking the dealer or mechanic to take a look at the pedal to see if it can be adjusted?

Hi

I have just bought a 2007 PT Cruiser and have the same problem. The brake pedal is too high (too far from the floor) so my foot can't reach it comfortably. I have adjusted the seat but this doesn't help.

Did you have any luck with adjusting the brake pedal?

B

Betty,

The post you are responding to is 4 1/2 years old. Nobody else has had a problem that I know of with the height of the brake pedal and the original poster with the problem hasn't been back to the forum to let us know if he ever found a solution.

Maybe by resurrecting this problem one of the members of the forum now can come up with a solution. Hang on till others get a chance to read the forum.

Well, there is an adjustment behind the master cylinder. I don't think I've ever had to adjust one- I've heard it can cause unsolvable brake dragging if it were adjusted too far out.
I don't think the purpose is to adjust pedal height, just play between booster and master cylinder.

It's on the far right of the contraption pictured below:
