Default Oil change advise

I did it I changed the oil and filter. I drive a 2000 PT Limited 2.0 I drive very short dist. daily. I only have 39000 sence new. I used Mobil 1 5/30 when should the oil be change again? It will be a very long time for me to go 3000 miles between changes..How long in months should I go before another change. I been taking it on a half hour drive on the motor way to get it good and warmed up at least twice a month. Got tired of Dealer rip offs. Andy

Andy, welcoem tothe forum. You didn't fill in your profile so it's hard to tell where you are but if your in the U.S. you have the 2.4 ltr engine and not 2.0

If you are outside, the 2.0 is a definite possibility.

Manual says to change oil every 6 months - regardless of mileage...

Sort of like taking a bath every six months, whether I need it or not? I think what is meant that if the car is only driven a small amount every year, then change the oil at 6 month intervals. I do this on my daughter's cars. She drives maybe 3,000 miles per year. Waiting for a 7500 mile (arrgh) interval would take a couple of years.

Yes. Even if car is only driven a little, oil should be changed if it's been in 6 months - mileage or 6 months, whichever comes first.
Hey, I knew what I meant...
