No, no I definitely appreciate all the help. I was just saying. I hate to throw another $100 at it for chrysler parts. I was wrong about the mileage, its 128k, so its due for a belt.

Good news fellas thanks to yalls advise and experience. The wire was rubbed in half, spliced it and put another crank sensor in and she's good to go. Now time to trade her in before that dreaded timing belt. Maybe, hopefully! What did yalls old belts look like?

Where was it rubbing please, so we can tell others that might have the same problem.
Until it breaks, you can't really tell by just looking at it, 95% of the time. Now at your mileage, just maybe it will look a little worn/thin at the teeth ...maybe. Your riding on borrowed time.

Same deal, it was rubbing on the half shaft. It looked as if there were a few strands still attached but it wasn't upon further inspection.
The belt actually looked new, of course I couldn't see the teeth. I wonder if its already been replaced? |

Hmmm. Same as mine. Possible the belt was replaced if you don't know the full history.

I read about this problem today on Allpar. Check the connector wiring harness- they have a common wire that corrodes.
P.S. Sorry, newbie- did not see page 2. Last edited by joecorvair; 21 Jul 2009 at 11:11 pm. Reason: newbie- did not see page 2 |

Im not sure if yours is different but mine was right above the oil filter in the block. 1/4 ratchet with a 8mm socket. The connector may be a lil tough to get off. Very quick and simple to do. |
