Yeah, that's what my Haynes manual said but I took the oil filter off and looked above it and around it and found nothing.

You dont take the filter off, its above it on the block. Maybe six inches above it. Look for the harness running on the back side of the motor, near the half shaft. The alternator wiring is in the same harness.
