Default PT Turbo on Base Model

Does anyone know if installing a Stock GT turbo onto a Base PT will work, or if it will void the warranty? I've tried to e-mail Chysler and all they give me is lawyer tal, so they aren't much help. Any thoughts??

Yea like he said trade up, I traded my 02 for a 03 GT, there are too many other upgrades not to, sprayers, stronger block, better tires[:I] and wheels, not to mention new full warrenty if that is what you are looking for, and consider if you are ever in an accident, and crush the intercooler, do you think your insureance company will replace an add-on? They have to if it came from the factory.

It's my understanding the 2.4L in your base model is a different engine than the 2.4L in the GT. I suspect the installation could be done but one of the differences in the engines is the strength of the bottom end. I would guess the engineers added the strength for a reason.

Others have suggested you trade to a turbo car. I belive that would be cheaper than buying a DC turbo charger and all the accessories required to run it.

Before you re-invent the wheel, check out this site:

http://www.bstockum.com/

Bob Stockum is probably the most informed on what all is involved in putting a turbo charger on a Normally Aspirated PT Cruiser engine; and what all is involved in keeping it together.

I would also suggest trading in on a turbo model. I had a 2002 PT before getting my 2003 PT GT.

I feel your pain. (the need for speed)
