Do all the tests first before going out any buying any parts. I first had the system tested at a local station. The car was tested under no load, A/C on high. The pressure on the high side climbed into the hundreds!!! They told me there is a "plug" somewhere.

The issue with our '05 was the "warm at idle (or stop light) and cold while moving".

In desperation, I looked to the net. I found this forum and did some diggin and found threads like this one. I read though many issues and understood that I can perform the simple tests. I chked all the relays and test the circuits. I then tested the fan, highside good, lowside bad (no movement when directly connected to the battery). Since the fan is a two-speed unit (non-turbo), the car will not overheat. I proved this by letting the car idle at temp, then the highside of the fan turned on as normal.

Blah..blah...Blah....Good luck!

RESULTS ARE IN!!!!!
Well Sunday afternoon I disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the PCM since that seemed like the easiest place to start. I also checked the connections and disconnected then connected the low press. switch. Today I drove her around that day for about 30 miles. Today its hot like Mars - 95* and humid. I drove about 15 minutes from the gym and let her idle for 10 minutes. The cooling fan was on the whole time and she was around 35lbs of pressure during the idling. I shut her down for about 90 minutes and let her idle again and the fan was running and the pressure was 55lbs blowing cold air. So far it looks like the PCM reset did the trick, only time will tell. Comments please.

This is exactly what happened to my daughter's 07 PT base. And Slarty is right on the money - the high speed fan had to be replaced. Fortunately my mechanic found an aftermarket for nearly half the price of the OEM. Does this tell you something Chrysler - there is an aftermarket assembly for a part that for most vehicles only come from a dealer?? To top that, the OEM was very high to find (another indicator that this problem is WAY too common) and so is the aftermarket (they keep selling them out). With labor my replacement costs a little over $300. But since Obama told Chrysler to stiff their suppliers of the money they legitimately owed them, it's getting harder to get parts.

Did it turn out to be the cooling fan itself or the condense rcooling fan motor?
If I test the fan and it works with 12v then that would rule out both scenarios?

Exactamundo!!! The brushes wear out. There was somebody here who experimented with replacing the brushes. I'd be interested in how well that works and how long.

I've never seen the relays go bad. The motor quits working first! Apply 12 volts to both speeds and see what happens.

Well its day 3 since the PCM reset and connection checks and the high speed fan is working appropiately. I got a funny feeling that the low speed press. sensor was not in full contact with the bottom piece because it came off rather easily. Any connection I ever remove was always screwed on tight or a real @#(_*_ IN THE !@! to removed. It snapped back in rather nicely. Time will tell....Thx for all the insight.....Keep ya posted!...
(by the way, where is the fan blower motor located?)

Uh, right in the middle of the fan itself. Round about 9 inches in diameter, or are you talking about the inside-the-car blower motor? If you are, it's part of the HVAC system in the dash....

Cooling fan motor....by your description it must be only about 2" thick in order to fit in between the fan and radiator. I can't see it on my '06, your '01 must be different if its that easy to see.

I thought they are all about the same. Only the wiring is different.

Here's one with dual wiring connection. Not sure if it's 06-09 or for the GT.
