http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...ir-manual.html

This is the link to the 06-08 parts manual that Crewzin provides in the sticky's at the top of the forum. It shows the same fan style as my 05, along with the relays in the under hood box. Pg 72 shows the fan and pg 99 shows the fuse box. If the illustrations are accurate...BIG IF...then the relays should be in the PDC under the hood. Just goin' off the pics. I'd post the pic from the PDF, but don't know how.

On edit...I figured it out!!!WOOO HOOO for me!!!(and my smart wife)

Sorry, Yes, that's the fuse box, but I'm pretty sure it's for the 00-05 cruisers. Hooligan sent me a picture of the new fuse box (PDC) for the newer models (his) plus the list of what everything is. It's much different than the old one and there's no relays for the fan:

Ur right...that fuse box layout is WAY different then the '05....wierd....

Oh FYI. Replacement of the fan motor itself or complete fan assy should take less then an hour, give or take a few minutes. These cars are sooooo easy to work on, very close to Honda easy...

I was losing my mind trying to find them....Someone else told me that the cooling fan operation is controlled inside the PCM. That's why I mentioned earlier in my posts that my PCM may been flashed incorrectly by the dealer. Also, I was reading through some old threads and read that the low speed fan cools the a/c and the high speed fan kicks on to drop the engine temp. Some of you are telling me that its the high speed fan that should cool the a/c, what gives? When I do the jumper test from the fan motor connection at teh bottom of the radiator? Anyway I bought a Low Press. Cutoff Switches at a Dodge dealer 30miles away....(the holy grail of a/c parts!) and need to know two things:

1. What gets lubricate prior to install, just the small o-ring?
2. Do I have to use refrig. oil to lubricate or is there a comparable fluid I can use? (I really can't see buying a $10. can of refrig. oil for a few drops)?

Keep ya posted....66CUDA

High speed is primarily for the A/C. As far as cooling the low speed starts first. If the engine does not cool off then the high speed is activated. When you turn on the A/C the high speed comes on and runs as long as your are under certain speeds and other conditions are met.
As far as the low pressure switch, no oil is needed. Just make sure to take off the old one. I still say your fan is not working properly.
The connector for the fan is on the bottom if I remember correctly.

I know I'm being stubborn and maybe plain ole' stupid, but I refuse to give in that the cooling fan is bad because the only time it doesn't turn on is when I initially start my car after it sits a few hours or overnight. The high speed fan will stay while I'm idling at a traffic light or while my wife runs into the store. When I drove to the dodge dealership 30 miles away in stop and go shore traffic and must of stopped and idled at 10 traffic lights in 90* heat with no issues. A little while ago I drove her 7 miles back from the gym and idled her at the car wash while I washed & dried off my PT for approx. 15-20 minutes and the high speed fan was on. I installed the a new low pressure switch and it did not change anything upon initial start up and idle. With that being said its me its either:
1.)normal operation
2.)PCM wasn't flashed correctly (TSB recall)(cooling fan circuit controlled by PCM)..
3.).some type of malfunction sensor/switch.
Hopefully next week I can get to my buddy's shop and have him look at her.
4.) You guys are right and I'm WRONG...cooling fan

I'll bet you 2 taco's at Jack-in-the-crack that the issue is the fan.

I too was very skeptical about the fan, until I actually got off my lazy ass and tested it. The fan will work for normal operation in high speed, when water temp is at the limit. Rememer, the lowside fan will always stay on when A/C is engaged......

Okay this is what I mentioned earlier with the difference in answers.....low speed for a/c , high speed for engine temp is just the opposite of what everyone is saying on this thread. Anyway, the question still remains why is it only on initial startup and not when its idling any other time. Idling on start up is the same as idling at a traffic light or idling in park after driving it a few miles with the exception of engine temp. is at its normal range. When this damn poison ivy clears up I plan on getting my hands dirty!!!

Come to think of it, mine did that also. Then it just stopped working in low mode.

Mine did it too. I could actually tap the back of the fan motor and get it going again, but as soon as it stopped for one reason or another, I had to tap it to get it going again.
