Hi Guys....
Is it necessary to use the special tool 6792 (Crankshaft Damper/Sprocket Installer)? It was pretty hard to remove. I wanted to know if anybody had any success installing the dampner without 6792...and if so....what did you do? Thanks!

No responses so I stopped at Chrysler dealer today and talked to one of the mechanics and he said they use a dead-blow hammer to install the harmonic balancers.

Dead hammer did not work at all.
The same tool used to install the crank sprocket is used to install the harmonic balancer. |

Here's what you do. Tap it on with the dead blow till the threads on the crank bolt engage atleast 4 or 5 turns. Then just use the crank bolt to run it on. Do it every time and never had a problem. The hammer will not get it done plus can cause damage to the thrust bearing. There is no keyway for the crank dampner so it doesn't matter where is is.
