I know what they mean, but where is the problem? p1684 makes no sense to me. You guys lead me right to the problem last time i had issues.
So here is whats happening. The car acts like it is stuck in second gear. Manually shift or leave in drive, it wont go over 45 mph, its at like 4k rpms or more. Thanks in advance! |

Researched, test drove myself. It is in limp mode. First test the check engine light started blinking around 45 mph, dropped below 45 and it stayed solid. Thought 45 was the magic number, but now it wont blink like that again. I went up to 55 or 60.
I just disconnected the negative cable to see if it will clear codes, and then try again. Is the tcm hard to replace? Where is it located? Or do you think I should look at other ideas first? Thanks! |

P1684 = don't worry about that one.
Fault Code P0300 - Multiple Cylinder Misfire A misfire code in a specific cylinder (P0301-Cylinder #1, P0302- Cylinder #2, etc.) usually indicates a possible problem with a plug or ignition wire. A P0300 code indicates the misfire is random and moving around from cylinder to cylinder. The cause here would likely be something that upsets the engine's air/fuel mixture, such as a major vacuum leak, leaky EGR valve or unusually low fuel pressure (weak pump or faulty regulator). An answer from one of technical experts: P0700 only means there are transmission control module codes to be read with a scanner. The TCM codes will explain more of the fault information. The TCM cannot trigger the light, only emmisions related faults can trigger the light. So,.... they program a generic code to tell the PCM that there is a fault. P0700 is the TCM code for the PCM. You may have one or many TCM codes to be read. From a search on the forums, P0700 usually turns out to be the transaxle solenoid pack is bad and needs replacing.

Thanks crewzin for clearing that up.
I reconnected the battery, before cranking i got code p1684, which is useless I know. I cranked it up, light stayed on. Turned it off, checked codes, still p1684. Cranked it again, put in reverse moved a foot, put in drive and moved a foot. Shut car off, checked codes and I have p1684 along with p0700. So for now, the p0300 is gone, now to figure out the p0700. |

Just to set the record straight:
P1684 does not indicate a problem; it's only a status, which indicates that the PCM memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles.
