Have you checked your motor mounts (torque struts)? They are a weak link on the Turbo and are known to tear and clunk.

I hate to say it, but this is just ANOTHER of similar the many issues with PT's. I have a turbo. The way the engine is situated, it's front heavy. There is a certain amount of shifting around or play.

The mounts will crack and break constantly, not soon after having them tightened or replaced. That crunching scrunching noise will keep happening. There is NOTHING they'll be able to do about it! Sorry!

Quick way to check the motor mounts (torque struts) is have someone put the car into gear (park to drive, drive to reverse ect.) while someone else watches the motor. If the motor has any (movement) roll (forward to back) while changing gears, you can bet atleast one torque strut is bad. Hope thats all it is, since its a fairly easy and cheap repair for the DIY'er.

While this is a common issue for high mileage four cylinder Mopar vehicles, it's not unfixable. Once all three passenger side mounts are replaced with the correct quality parts, they will last a very long time. One of the issues folks have is installing the wrong lower strut mount on the turbo 2.4L due to a bad manufacturer's application guide.

Here's a write up on that from Anchor:

I threw my lower tq strut mount away so I wouldn't have that problem :-P
Seriously running without it and solid upper works for me. Bit my car is off road, and auto transmission which is easier on things compared to the manual transaxle
