"Antifreeze/coolant chemistries are different. Products that contain Organic Acid Technology (OAT) chemistry are NOT approved by Ford and DaimlerChrysler for HOAT/G-05 applications. Products using OAT chemistry may be damaging to cooling systems that specify Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) chemistry based on OEM recommendations." per Valvoline (Zerex). In other words, don't use Dex-Cool.

$20 more for the correct coolant vs. $400 installed for a replacement for a plugged radiator from using Dexcool. Hmm. Lemme think about this.

I would just like to add my personal experience with Dex-cool. When I purchased my PT it had 30,000 miles and the previous owner had drained out the system and put in Dex-cool. At 66,000 miles I started to have my own overheating issues and after much time spent on troubleshooting I found out I had a plugged up radiator. Now I have performed all services on this PT since I got it and the only thing that explains the LARGE amount of crap found in the radiator was from the corrosion that was caused by the Dex-cool.
Now I no there are other things that can cause there to be junk in the coolant but I checked and there is no other damage.

You can disassemble an entire PT with a 10mm wrench. So where did it go! |
