Default Non turbo Performance

Hello, I own a 2002 non turbo Pt cruiser with 140'000k. I recently put in a custom made cold air intake with a K&n filter on it, new sparkplugs, and a new muffler. Ever since I put on these mods my friend who owns a Toyota Corolla stock, decided to race me, well I lost. His car is bone stock and is a ninth generation corolla. How can I loose?

Btw we raced on his driveway in the country.

The PT has the aerodynamics of a brick, and is very heavy.
With 140,000 on your PT, it's also a bit "tired".
You may not win, but put a few more PSI (2-3) in your tires over what the door sticker says and you'll reduce rolling resistance (and get a bit better handling).
