Code 0303 # 3 cylinder misfire

I am new to this web site but I have found aolt of usefull information here. So let me get to it, my wife has an 03 chrysler pt cruiser. Less than 500 miles ago I replaced the spark plug and wires on here veichle due to a rough idle (thanks to the information I found here).

Today my wife said the car was running really rough again. I took it up to auto zone and had them read the code (0303) # 3 cylinder miss fire. I purchased a new coil and was going to install it today until I read some information found on this web site.

So my question is, could there be another problem other than the 100 dollar coil pack?? thanks in advance.

I would think if the coil was bad you would have at least two cylinders mis-firings. Save your money on the pack.

You might just have a bad wire or plug even though they are newly installed. The easiest way of telling is to swap out the number #3 plug with another or do the same with the number #3 wire. Clear the codes and if the problem re-appears in another cylinder, you've found your problem.

I had the same problem. After changing the plus, coil pack, and wires I took it to the shop. They did a fuel injection flush and reset the codes.
