My experience - use synthetic oil.
I had a '93 Dodge Spirit - 4 cyl - went 195,000 miles - at about 150,000 miles, a valve guide worked loose and I had the timing belt done. The transmission wouldn't go out of 1st gear at 195,000 - I never had the transmission touched (I don't advise that) but engine was still strong.
No wheel bearings done, replaced rear shocks only, but oil changed every 5,000 miles w/Mobil 1.
If you do what you have planned, you should get a lot of life out of it.

I spotted this on another PT forum about gas octane:
"Just wanted to add, my '02 NA has run nothing but 87 octane. At 156,000 miles it still runs great. Ditto my wife's '02 with over 95,000 miles."
I decided to have the tranny fluid changed since I dont' know anything about it, mechanic took the left hub off just to see the bearings fall out talk about borrowed time, the strut plates were completely shot

I have one more trip back to the shop and that will be for the timing belt, since there is no way to find out if it has been changed or not I'm not going to risk it.

I will say this, the new exhaust seems to let it rev quicker.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Oh its an automatic sorry I should of included that in the original message.

Wink Re: New to Me 01 PT Limited Non Turbo

Just picked it up, and wow no banging and wandering, tranny fluid, was changed out and it now shifts more smoothly. My mechanic says he can remove the timing belt cover just enought to check the condition on the belt, perhaps it was already changed I hope anyway that is the last Major issue with this Cruiser.

Now my wish list:

Larger Leather armrest
Wheels stay with 16's and run 225/50 tires or whatever the largest is
spoiler
Mopar body kit
Fog lights to an independent switch
New headlight/foglight bulbs (silverstars)

I'm open for suggestions

I'm told by reliable mechanics that looking at the timing belt MAY give you some idea of the condition is it's worn/cracked but not to go by what you see if it looks good. Go by recommendation of service book/what other owners recommend, which in our case is 100,000 miles or sooner.

Major issue has came up! I put a new air kit on it and now my gas mileage has go in the toilet. " I can't keep my foot off the pedal" Wow that sound it makes sucking that air is awesome, now I had better watch that I don't get a ticket.
