Default MSD coil

Any of you guys have a MSD coil on your PT? Does it seem to make any difference?

No difference. The stock coil is more than adequate, even for those of us running higher hp.

At any time have you replaced the coil on your PT?

I wouldn't suggest it. The factory coil, really two coils back to back, is pretty tough. There is an impedance measurement in the service manual that tells you what your coil should measure across each contact, and if your measurement varies by more than 10% of those levels then you should look to replace it. I've not heard anything good about the MSD coils for the PT's, so I'd stay away from them.

Agreed. Cracking, melting and just plain stop working.

Might be apples & oranges but, some Dodge Ram owners claim the MSD coils caused the failure of the "coil driver module" in the PCM (computer).

I'd say 75% of the msd coils fail. Mine hasn't but it's a risk... No noticable benefit but it was my first mod
