Default Ignition Switch or transmission?

Just had the transmission rebuilt and I had a few problems with getting the switch to turn off without going back and forth into park. Not sure thats what helped it go off but tonight I could not get it to go off and now it wont go on and the steering wont lock??!! Turning the key feels strange and the radio stayed on till I messed with the key some more. Is it the switch? If so how do you change it out?

Thanks

It could also be the lock cylinder. Typically though when it goes bad it just locks up and it's done. I would have the shop check the shifter linkage. You could also do it yourself. You will need an 8mm or 10mm socket. Put it in park and open the hood, take out the airbox and you will see the shifter cable. Loosen the bolt and and move it a little bit and then let it set itself. Tighten and check.

I got the lock cylinder out and it worked fine when removed so I looked further. It turned out to be a piece that goes between the cylinder and ignition switch. It broke where it goes into the switch.
