Which would be a better buy, the Hahn turbocharger or the Whipple supercharger?
The Hahn turbo claims an initial gain of 60 hp and I've seen it for a little under $2700 at www.ptcruiserparts.com. I don't know of a second stage available yet, although have seen, online, people who have added their own parts which amount to a second stage and give more power for not too much more than the turbo costs. Whipple claims a 90 hp gain for the supercharger, which I've seen at www.raceandstreet.com for about $3530 (including shipping). Most reports from individuals I've seen say it's more of an 80-85 hp gain. Some parts could also be added on top of the supercharger for more power, but so far as I know, it isn't quite as versatile as the turbo in that aspect. The Hahn turbo costs less initially but also gives less initial power. The Whipple supercharger gives more initial power but costs a good bit more initially. The turbo is, according to what I've seen, more adaptable...it can be adjusted to give more power than the supercharger, in the long-run. I've got the Hahn turbo and to me it is the better choice , for all the reasons you posted . The stage 2 is supposed to be available in a week or so . I got tired of waiting and am doing my own stage 2 upgrade . The pioneer of playing with the Hahn turbo on PT is Bob Stockum . He's gone way past stage 2 with his car and has some good info on his website www.bstockum.com/index . Bob's a great guy and will help you any way he can . He supplied and installed my turbo and spent alot of time answering questions , ect. I've now seen a Garrett turbo and was wondering if anyone might have any information on it. I've seen the stage 1 available for around the price of the Hahn turbo, but offering initial gain of 70 hp. If anyone knows about the Garrett or can provide a comparison of the Hahn and Garrett, whether to each other or the two vs. the Whipple supercharger, it would be greatly appreciated if the information were posted here or emailed to me. Also, anyone who knows what parts should be replaced or strengthened somehow to take a higher pressure turbo boost, please let me know that as well.

I know what it does and the basics on how to install but do not consider myself qualified to install, so I think they just stopped responding to me. RN See Mephisto ![]() |

If you are looking for a Garret Turbo, go to anyturbo.com. They have the Blue Ribbon setup with a T3 or T3/T4 hybrid. I was looking at the Stage 2. But there is none available at this time, it is in the works. And with that I was also thinking to have the Turbo upgraded to ball bearing type from turbonetics. http://www.anyturbo.com/

I think I've basically settled now on getting the Hahn turbo with Bob Stockum, once I can afford it.

I have the whipple in the Ram and It hauls butt,,no prob getting from 0 to 60 in about 6 sec (but I have done other things too,JBA header,dual exhaust,and Ram air set up)Love the feel of the power and it puts you back in your seat zoom, zoom<img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>
