Default Calling all 01 owners!

I encourage all with an airbag light problem to go to http://www.autosafety.org/fileacomplaint and file a complaint.* Only together can we get Chrysler to step up and be responsible for their problem.

I have loved my cruiser but this problem is consuming my time and energy and I might have to dump the car (which will be worthless because of the airbag light) if I can't get a new airbag to work. But why do I have to put a new airbag in when I have not been in a crash and it has never deployed?

And why did Chrysler change the airbag from 2001 to 2002? It can only be that they know if a problem and are hoping to avoid recall.

No, it could be they came up with something cheaper. The bean-counters drive most changes.

What is the nature of the problem? Your post is hard to interpret.

80,000 miles and no airbag problem. I am very confused by this.

What is the problem we are supposed to be having?

After 3 years of trying to resolve the reason for the airbag light suddenly coming on without cause, today I put a used airbag from another 01 in and the light went out.

For some unexplained reason, the original airbag faulted within itself at 5 years old.

This appears to be a very common problem. Do a google/aj search for 01 cruiser airbag and you'll see what I mean. Chrysler is known to have issues to the point that they recalled their Caravan.

I'm grateful this is taken care of and I can keep the car for another 2-4 years however this has been a stressful situation and Chrysler has been 0 help.
