Default Turbo engine config

Someone on one of these posts (I can't find it now) recently said that the block configuration for a Turbo PT is beefier than a NA PT. It gave me the impression that it is larger and uses better parts.

Is this true?

One of his supporting points was that some people are getting 600HP out of these Turbos.

If it's true that the engine is a bit different, in what ways?

The PT turbo/SRT-4 2.4L engine has upgraded internals. The engine is not bigger than the na 2.4L, just built stronger. In the interest of reliability, the engine block assembly, cylinder head, and crankshaft have been redesigned to handle the engine's higher output. Pistons are cooled with racing-style oilers, and the oil lubrication and water cooling systems of the turbo were designed for maximum durability.

The 400+ hp is not done with the stock turbo. Big turbo and supporting mods are needed.

And the connecting rods are forged.

Thanks!

That's kinda what I figured but a friend of mine with an SRT-4 insisted that it was somehow less even though I knew better.

Stock GT will lose to a stock SRT 4 - the SRT4 is lighter and less cross-sectional area, and all srt-4s are manuals.

The only 600hp PT's out there are running NOS systems and a much larger turbo. Add to it, that was on the dyno, when he did his first pull at the track his drive train went all to pieces! Video is still on youtube. He's one of the guys over at PTCrew.

PTCrew.com - Learn it or Burn it.Got neon srt-4's out there running 600 hp with the same engine as the PT turbo. The 600 hp PT owned by Total Sleeper had problems with stock axles breaking. He had to detune it down to 430 whp. Here is what he has been up to since. Here he is at the track running without nos.
Here's what he is up to now.
