My wife wants me to buy a very good OBD reader. The kind that can use hookups for checking all sorts of devices, and -maybe- hook to a laptop computer. I am looking for suggestions. I am not saying that price is not an issue, but price is certainly a consideration.
In the last few years, LOML has come to realize that I have over 35 years saved us about $50K on car repairs, maybe more, by doing it myself. When I didn't do it myself, I knew enough not to fall for "always replace the replace the brake socks

with the brake shoes" scam and the "your car needs a new computer"

scam. Usually the tools pay for themselves with the first major repair.
(The one time she didn't take my advice on a car purchase caused us to take a $20K bath on a Saturn Vue that redefined the term lemon.)
So she's decided it might be helpful to have a good code reader to have on hand. Suggestions? And many thanks.
