Default metalic clicking nosie from engine

Hello,

I have a 03 PT Touring that started to make a metalic clicking noise coming from the front right side (passenger side). It becomes quicker with depressing the accelerator (when idling) and it doesn't go off when all the fans and A/c are turned off. The noise sometimes becomes less audible when engine is warm.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Valves?
Try an oil change with synthetic oil.

Exhaust leak just starting? They often make a ticking sound... and if they are small will sometimes reduce or go away as the manifold heats up.

I also have that very same ticking noise. More pronounced when the engine is cold and seems to go away when hot. Not a exhaust leak, never gets worse the more I drive the car, so I'm not going to worry about it, but I'd love to know what it is!!!????

Possibly an injector tick.

Thanks for the input, interesting to hear that I am not alone with this problem.

I did think it might be the valves or injectors. So is it a deposit buildup that makes it click? Is there anything that I can try?

Do you guys have a good experience with fuel/oil additives that can resolve this? Can you recommend a brand?

Would synthetic oil really make a difference?

Thanks!

My PT is doing the same thing, but the engine runs and performs fine. Should I be concerned at all?

If someone can pull up tsb #09-007-04 you'll find the answer. I'll be back this evening to discuss.

It concerns chamfering cam bore radius.
