Brake light comes on when accelerating
2002 5sp. 80k miles. The parking brake light on the dash comes on especially under acceleration and especially when going up hill. Any suggestions?

Check the brake reservoir under the hood. I believe your brake fluid is low.

Oh, and if you do add brake fluid, don't fill - because when new pads go in and pistons are pushed in, the brake fluid will overflow. You can just put in new pads and you won't need to buy brake fluid.

Do the pads have sensor that starts to squeal when they are done or do I have to do a visual inspection?

They have clips that will "chirp" when the pads get low. Go ahead and add fluid to the reservoir, that will keep the light from coming on.

if I gun my PT off the line my parking brake light on the dash beeps and lights up only for a second than disappears...my parking brake is off.....is this because I need new brakes....my mechanic told me I will need front and rear brakes in the spring after its parked for the winter....is this why the light flashes and beeps when i accelerate fast from a standstill?
