Angry rough idle and then dies when it gets to operating temp.

I just got done replacing the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley, water pump, cam sensor and crank sensor using MOPAR parts. I also replaced the spark plugs gapping at .045, plug wires, and coil. Went to start it and would not start easily. Once it starts when cold, it idles at 1000 rpm and sounds OK. Once it starts to warm up, it idles rough and drops to 500 rpm and then dies. It will not start back up unless I give it a little gas and then will die again.

When I put the car in drive, it dies also. The same thing happens in reverse also.

I checked everything over and over, but cannot find any vacuum leaks or anything that would indicate a problem.

I checked the fuel pressure and seems to be OK at 58 psi.

I also replaced the gaskets to the intake manifold, upper and lower and still runs rough and dies.

The timing belt was checked and rechecked for proper alignment before I reassembled.

The PT has 140K on it and automatic trans.

There are no new codes at this time.

Well it sure sounds like everything was done properly and checked over for anything wrong but lets face it; if everything was perfect it wouldn't act like it does.

I know you double checked but from what I've read and heard from my mechanic, the hardest part (besides getting to the area to work) is getting it aligned properly and numerous do-it-yourself mechanics and even a few that took it in to have the timing belt done have come back with a rough idle, only to find out later that it was off a tooth in timing. Haven't heard of the engine dying though, just the rough idle. A decent vacuum leak would cause it to die.

Don't give up, but just keep looking at everything you touched and hopefully it will be something simple like leaving a hose off somewhere.

Have you tried 'resetting' the PCM one more time by disconnecting the neg battery cable?

Could the wires and/or plugs on the new sensors be damaged?

Good luck!

Timing is off. Most likely the exhaust cam is 1 tooth off.
