Default Power Steering ?

Ok...driving down the road. Go to make a turn and no power steering. Go to make another turn, I have power steering. Go to turn anymore after that, no power steering. I limp the Bruzer back home and check the belts first off. The seem to be in good shape and tensioner seems to be in good shape also. I pulled a hose off the power steering supply line and turned the car over. It spray tranny fluid everywhere...so, the PS pump still works fine.

So, belt is good, tensioner is good, pump is good. So....Rack and Pinion right? I mean, what else could it be? Oh, and it's not throwing any codes so, I'm lost.

I searched the forums for similar problems but nothing seemed to relate to the exact problem I was having.

Things I've tried. Power Steering flush. Put in ATF+4 synthetic powering steering fluid. No dice. If i rev the motor up...the steering is alot easier...

Also, no leaks of any kind anywhere.

So, Rack and Pinion?

Thanks in Advance.

The rack and pinion turns the car whether you have assist or not, and it's usually a point of leaking, but you say no leaks.
Is fluid level okay? Does it die on left turns and work on right or random?
The fact that pump sprayed means it isn't totally shot, but may not be delivering enough pressure.
How many miles on belts? No sign of "glaizing" or slipping?

I'll try a new belt, tensioner and a new pump. Give that a shot and go from there. Thanks for the help.

I stopped by my local Chrysler dealer to get any service/recall records on my recent purchase. I mentionted the trans flush as recommended on this site and he was familiar, agrees, and has the equip. Then he said at 18k I was due for a power steering flush. That sounds like bs to me.
