guys need help fast i own a 2001 pt limited and were looking to buy an 2002 pt it has the 2.4 b motor in it but it has this code showing up in it p0601 any help before we buy it would be appreciated and also the fogs on neiteher car works ours has new bulbs and all lol

Doesn't look good:

P0601 - PCM internal controller failure.

When monitored = ignition key on.

Set condition = internal checksum for software failed, does not match calculated value.

Possible causes = PCM (no other causes)

Test = none. The PCM is reporting internal errors and must be replaced.

As far as the fog lights. Cruiser are known to have burnt out Multi-function stalks. That's the stick on the left hand side of the steering column that controls the headlights, turn signals and fog lights. They have poorly made internal components. the number #8 fuse in the inside fuse panel controls the fog lights. Sometimes the owners take that fuse out rather than buy a new stalk that costs around $75.

ok thanks so u wouldnt recomend buying a car that has this problem? it seems to run fine and we realy like it because it has eighteen inch wheels and ghost flame paint and how much to replace a pcm ?

I'm just telling you what the code means. I don't know what a computer costs. The fog lights can be fixed pretty easily. I'd be hesitant to buy a car with the computer fault code, but that's me. If it's not a private sale, ask the seller if he'd warranty the computer for awhile and see what he says.
