Default Broken Engin Mount

Had my timing belt replaced about a month ago and now my upper motor mount is broken. Did they do something wrong when they put it back on after the repair? Or do the upper mounts break every now and again.

Anyone? I think it is strange it broke after the belt was replaced. Is there a "right way" to install them?

The stock mounts are very flimsy at best and break often. The motor mounts for the neon srt-4 are stronger and will fit.

If I go to a place like Pepboys and ask for the srt mount will I get a better mount or will I have to go to Chrysler to get a good one? I just had a PT lower mount break again.

Fill (partially) with 3M windshield urethane.

Forever fix.

Yes, the SRT4 mounts are stronger. I've got both on the shelf in the garage I'll post pics of the differance later today. The upper strut is adjustable and there is a "setting" measurement that the upper strut should be set to. I tried to scan the page with instructions, but it isn't very clear. Maybe you can read through the "fuzzy". If not I'll try again later today.

On the PT with the automatic tranny, If you make the mounts to stiff, you'll end up with numb fingers from the vibration that is transmitted mostly at idle. Stoplights will become a nightmare. The SRT mounts will last longer AND not produce the vibration, if installed to the correct measurements.

Here are the pics of the stock torque strut versus the SRT4 strut. Notice that the SRT's ribs are filled almost to the edge of the cups. The stock struts are noticeably farther down in the cups. You'll also see in the one side pic the slot at the "small" end that allows you to adjust the strut to the 4.72" measurement.
