Exclamation Help with pt cruiser

hey everyone im new to the site nd this is my first post.
i need some help with my cruiser
its a 2002 base model,
my problem is that while im driving the car it loses all electrical power, but if the door gets slammed or i bang on the steering collum with the key in the on position the power will come back and the car might start but usually it will die while cranking or while driving down the street. If any body can tell me what they think this might be...whether a loose connection...or something bigger

any help would be much appreciated!
