Default Camshaft Sprocket Holder 6847

So, I am trying to to replace my timing belt pulley. My brother-in-law who is a mechanic meaning he went to a technical school and had a job for about 6 months working on cars got my car taken all the way down to where the special tool comes in to play. He does not have it and when I looked online it was $113. Is there anyway around not having that tool????Is it worth it for me to get it if I'll probably only use it this one time??? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
