Smile HELP! MY PT KEEPS DYING OUT!

Hey guys, got a wierd intermittent, hard to diagnose problem... hoping somebody will have some advice.

I have a 2005 PT GT Turbo HO Convertible. I've done a few small mods to her but nothing crazy.

1. Installed a K&N Cold Air Intake
2. Sometimes run a Diablosport Tuning system on her, but not always. Problem seems to occur wether It's in 93 octane perfomance tune mode, or in the original factory tune. Although, admittedly, problems occur more in performance mode.

Every once in a while, my car will be running along, and then act like she's gonna stall out. Like maybe I've been running around, and I pull up to a light, and she starts to die off. So, I start pumping the gas like "c'mon! don't do this to me baby! If I can get the rpms back up there, the problem may correct itself, and she'll continue to run normally. Can happen every other day, or it may be weeks between episodes. Other suspicious symptoms include in the morning when cold, I start her and the rpms will go up and down... up and down... up and down.. until she warms up/levels off. If I take her to the shop of course, it doesn't happen.

Any thoughts guys? It's sporadic, and irritating. Plus, I'm afraid it's just gonna die on me one of these days and I'll be stuck....

Welcome.
I'd start with plugs & wires.

I'd clean or replace the Idle Air Controller (IAC).

My first thought was the plugs & wires as the OP doesn't say when that was done. Turbos can use stock plugs gapped at around .032. Any wires OTHER than stock are good. There is a "sticky" on the procedure for that.

Crewzin's idea is a good one also.
