Default 2004 Turbo boost?

Greetings from a Newbie. I just got a 2004 Platinum model, and I note the turbo only produces 180HP, whereas other models are in the 210-220 range. Is it the same turbo with just a lower wastegate setting. Can it be boosted without damaging the motor?

Welcome.
Yes, you have the "turbo lite" - like I do.
Yes, you can up the boost - but then you can't run regular gas in it, you'll need premium.
What you want is Stage 1 - It's an engine CPU replacement - sometimes you can pick one up from someone who traded in and put original computer back - the S1 has to be for your model year and it will have to be programmed with you vehicle's VIN (a place called Flight Systems can do it, or dealer).

Yes, Silver is right! There is so much you can do to get HP from this cars that is not even funny!! I have a Turbo lite my self and I just install the air filter, the BOV and a racing wastegate. Im around 12 pound of boost right now until I get the Stage 1 that silver is talking about.

THanks for the quick replies. The cost for the CPU and 4 fuel injectors is $563. I don't have a labor cost yet.
Stu

PS. Are there any other worthwhile mods I should consider. I was surprised to see drum brakes on the rear, I guess thats how Chrysler keeps the cost down. This car actually out accelerates my 1993 Nissan 300Z up to 70mph.

I heard that 2004 turbos already come with the Stage 1 injectors! I still have to find more info about that. The instalation for the Stage 1 CPU is very easy, is a plug and play thing if you know what your doing.

I just paid $153 for one injector for my 300ZX, so if I don't need the injectors I imagine it would cut the cost quite a bit, especially since the labor was another 315 to remove the manifold to fit them.

Well not exactly plug and play.

Stage 1 upgrade kit requires a dealership visit, or to order from Flight systems who input the mileage and VIN if I recall. There also needs to be a tranny learn procedure done. Lots of threads on this. Easiest 50 HP gain you can do.

It's true about the 2004 motor and injectors. You do not need to change them starting in 2004 and thereafter. The larger injectors come stock.

Dunno what labor would be involved. Order from FS, they put the VIN and whatnot in beforehand, you install it in the dealerships lot, slip the dude $20 to tell the PCM to tranny learn and do the procedure in the lot.

I went to the Mopar site I was given in the last note, but I/m confused because it says"577cc injectors for 2003 kit only." If there is anyone can definitely tell me whether I need bigger injectors on my "Turbo Lite" 04 would much appreciate it. Also some elucidation on the comment about the transmission relearning.
Thanks
