I'm in the market for a 2003 pt limited. Which ones come standard with the automatic engine shut off in case of theft?

Welcome to the forum. Did someone tell you that there was an automatic engine cut-out that was standard on the PT? I may be wrong, but the only devices like that are aftermarket or maybe sold as an option when you buy your PT, but not standard. Anyone know something different?

If it isn't started with the transponder key(s) provided with it, it will run for 20 seconds before shutting off, and for 20 seconds on each start-up attempt for a total of 3 times before SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module) puts the PCM to sleep. Then it is a dealer fix to wake it back up. This is for all with the remote. security LED in dash cluster and tansponder key. I would think all Limited Editions would come with this.

welcome to the forum and I believe dalite is correct in that all the limited editions come with the alarm and security system...

According to the Chrysler website, for 2004, even the base model PT Cruiser has the Sentry Key theft deterrent system with the engine immobilizer. All models above the base add the Security Alarm System to monitor the doors, ignition and tailgate locks and adds the Remote Keyless Entry System as standard equipment.

In 2003, the Sentry Key Theft-Deterrent System and the Security Alarm System were both standard on all models EXCEPT the base model where, according the Chrysler's website, it was not available.
