I am a proud owner of a 02 pt touring edition! I have had my fair share of issues with it, but I love it. Recently the codes p0703 and p1684 showed up. (I know they mean my brake sensor needs changed and that my Battery was dissconnected at some point with in the last 50 key turns.) The issue I have is those are the only two codes showing up and my car is sputtering BAD when I am just sitting at a light or when the car is in park.I pretty sure that means it Idles Hard? My Husband and grandfather Put new spark plugs in it as well as replaces the spark plug wires.
This did not fix the problem.. Any Ideas on what is wrong with my car???

daveuae,
Welcome to the forum. Yes, you should have hit "New Thread" at the top of the page and started your own posting instead of attaching to someone else's problem but since your here, this should help you. How to Remove a Battery From a PT Cruiser | eHow.com Your sputtering shouldn't have anything to do with the battery. When was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?

The manifold gasket leaks that are found now & then on say cylinder #4 for instance, isn't at the upper-to-lower joint. It's at the intake-to-head joint. Since the intake and head are made from differant materials they expand and contract at differant rates and will eventually expose any weak points in the gasket with the continued changes. This isn't a new phenomina. it has existed on probably every engine that has this type of intake to head joint (small blocks, big blocks, old and new configurations). If i had a dollar for every time I sprayed the intake-to-head joint and found a leak on a small block chevy in my speed shop days, I'd be a rich man.
