Default check engine light

About a week ago I drove 150 miles to visit a friend. Just before i started out I filled up the gas tank. When I got to where I was going I noticed that I had not put the gas cap back on. I never saw the gascap warning and the check engine light was not on. I few days later I again filled up the tank and drove another 150 miles. The next day the check engine light was on. I pulled a code, p0445 (Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted). Yesterday I drove it home and the light was still on. I did the key dance again, and there were no codes...but the check engine light was still on. Will the check engine go out by itself,or do I need to take it somewhere to have it fixed?

Disconnect the negative battery terminal on the battery for 20 minutes, that should fix it....

You can go to Autozone, etc, and they read codes - I suspect they'll clear it for you.
It will eventually go off by itself after so many starts.....
