Default Light problem NOT THE SWITCH

New member here, I have the fortune of being the family mechanic while I am at home, and my parents '03 GT has a problem with the lights. I did a search and couldn't find an answer to my question. Occasionally, the switch will turn on the head lights, but the dash lights and outside marker lights don't come on (aka daytime running lights-ish) The fog lights and turn singals work, and there are no other related issues.

2003 PT GT turbo Limited, auto, fully loaded, 71k miles.

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I just installed a new multi-function switch and that did not cure the problem. Are there any grounding issues with the lights I don't know about?

Welcome to the forums.
Have you read threads on the mutli-function switch?
All different symptoms - fogs come on by themselves, some lights don't work....
Takes only a few minutes to replace.

Replace the switch nright away. Fires have been known to start because of the switch.

Yeah I read those, but none of the symptoms I found in them match what I'm experiencing, so I thought I'd ask.

So it ended up being the fuse. The tabs holding the fuse were loose and caused a spot of high resistance in the connection, burning the contacts. Used a screwdriver to bend the tabs close together, put some dielectric grease on it, and put a new fuse in, and voila! It's working.

So now I have a good multi-function switch for sale if any of y'all want it.
