The "chips" on eBay are nothing more than a resister that takes the place of the IAT located in the intake. It fools the computer into thinking that cool air is coming into the throttle body. The timing is advanced and more fuel is fed into the mixture. The problem is that it fools the computer ALL the time, even at idle so more fuel is fed ALL the time and the timing is advanced ALL the time. You may gain 2-3 hp and loose 2-3 mpg. Plus a lot of people that tried them have the engine light come on while using it.
