Exclamation Gas mileage

I put my 2007 PT Cruiser in for it`s 50,000 km service which also included a spark plug change and I have noticed a considerable decrease in gas mileage, what would the reason be for this.

That makes no sense unless they screwed something up while doing it, is the car running bad?

Are you the original owner? I ask because there may have been different plugs and wires that were changed back to stock. Maybe the wrong plugs were used. Your mileage should not decrease after a tune for any reason. Good luck.

Well you know about what a PT gets, so chart the numbers. In the mean time call the dealer and let them know or bring it in for a re-check. My point is you have to chart the numbers to be sure.

I record all my fill-ups, and unless you are looking at at least 1,000 miles, you have no idea of mileage - tank fill-ups vary all over the place - all depends on when the pump clicks.

Mine seemed to get better as I drove it and with the tuneup, who knows how long it was sitting on the lot. It was well under 20 when I first got the PT. Between the tuneup/wires/synthetic oil/tire inflation and I think just being used it seems better, but still not the advertised 20mpg I was expecting but closer at least. My old 4 banger Toyota Camry got about 20 mpg around town since I been using the PT to travel the same distance using the same rode everyday I have to get gas three days earlier than with the Toyota and the Toyota held 2 less gallons. I'm not complaining because I enjoy the PT and for maybe six bucks a week extra in gas it's ok.
