Default car would not start, now keyless entry does not work.

the problem started when I went to open my 2001 pt cruiser. I had to open the car with the key because the fob was not working which set off the alarm. I then proceeded to start the car, but it would not start, just the clicking of the starter. I jump started the car and got it home only to find out both my fobs do not work. So I have two problems. First the car would not start apparently from a dead battery. The battery is only 1 yr old and there was nothing left "on" in the car. It's not the alternator and the battery is good. What could have caused the starting problem? Second, both of my Fobs mysteriously stopped working on the same day. I can only get into my car with the key. I tried to re-program the fobs by following the instructions in the manual (inserting key, turing on, holding unlock, etc...) but that was unsucessfull any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?

Did you test the battery? It might be bad, because you were able to jump the car. I would bring it to a place like Pet Boys that would test it for free before you give the dealer a chance to hose you.

Welcome to the forums.
Agree - get battery & charging system checked before you go nuts. When battery on a PT goes, weird things arise.
As to what drained your battery, the multi-function switch often goes bad and turns lights on by itself.

I took the car to the dealer and had them test the fobs and they were both transmitting a signal. So the dealer re-programmed them to the car and everything seemed fine, but two days later both fobs stopped working again. I think it may be the remote keyless entry module. That is also my guess as to why the car wouldn't start. I think the car may have locked out keeping it from starting. Anyway, I've been trying to find a part number and a place to buy the rke module. Anyone have any suggestions? Oh, and the battery tests out fine.
