Neon didn't have a 2.4 engine. Only the SRT-4 did. Pretty sure the Neon is a 2.0.

As was stated above, there's no such thing as a 2.4L non-turbo in a Neon. The Neons had a 2.0L 16-valve engine. The SRT-4 had a 2.4L HO turbo.

Cool Re: Neon engine in PT

I was always curious about why Chrysler didn't produce an SRT-4 PT. They made an SRT Caliber, so they could've done a PT (a better choice in my book). Was it a Dodge vs. Chrysler thing?

Chrysler and especially the PT was considered to be a car for "old folks" so they didn't think it would sell.

Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge all have SRT models.

That being said, the caliber is not on the same platform as the PT. Believe it or not, the Journey is off the same line as the PT. The Caliber came off the Neon line. The Nitros came off the Liberty line, etc.

Look at the 7th digit in from the end of the VIN number. PTs, Journeys, and Patriots are "T", Calibers, Neons, and Compass' are "D", Sebrings, Avengers, and Sratus' are "N", Chargers, Challengers, 300, and LHS' are "H", Nitros and Liberties are "W"

The PT is considered an old farts car. That's why there was very little aftermarket support for the PT turbo. Having owned a modified '03 GT and currently owning a '05 Neon SRT-4 I can say the PT would fail as a SRT model anyways. No comparison.
