Overheating Driving me nuts

Default Overheating Driving me nuts

I have a 2006 Cruiser. Last summer the fan fuse kept popping and it was overheating. If I changed out the fuse it would work great for a while. It now is overheating and the fuse is just fine.
It mostly happens stuff in traffic, idling. What I find very odd is that if I pop it into neutral the temp goes back down. I know enough about cars to get me in trouble and my local dealership has complete idiots for employees.

I have had so many problems with the front end, I wonder if this can be related somehow.

It has nothing to do with suspension, if that's what you mean by "front end". Perhaps you just need to bleed your cooling system. Do you have any leaks? Maybe from the water pump or a bad hose?

The fact that the fan fuse kept blowing leads me to believe that it was on it's last leg. Could the fuse not be blowing because the fan does not work anymore?
When you are idling and slow speed is just when the fan is supposed to work.
Turn your A/C to see if the fan works on high speed.
Sit and idle and watch your gage go up. At some point your fan should turn on.
I'm betting that is where your issue lies.
But please let us know.

Is yours a turbo? If it is, beware of aftermarket fans. I've read here that the Turbo uses a variable speed fan. Based on what I've read, it seems that Chrysler may have changed how they achieve this "variable" speed. I'll explain...

The fan is a known issue mine was replaced at 39000. Make sure it's even working on it's high speed, turn the AC on and take a look. You should hear it kick on when your at a light also when the car hits a certain temperature while sitting at the light.

Lots of good tips. I tried the A/C thing when it was a beautiful 70 yesterday in Colorado, no changes in the temp. Nice air though. I think I am going to try to get the radiator flushed, after we are done with our blizzard, and have them test the fan.

Based on your original statement, I would say that your fan is drawing a higher amp requirement. ( defective) This would be one of the reasons the fuse popped. You could also have a failing fan relay

Here's another posability thatI ranacross while researching my fan problem.
According to this link, the wiring rubs when the egine is under high torque (loose motor mounts) and causes the wiring to short and pop the fuse.
