Default Oil Filter Location

Okay, I've had my PT for about 2 months and I'm only 1K away from my first oil change. Can anyone tell me where to look to find the oil filter on the car? I looked but could not see it. Is it in an out of the way spot? Help!

Also, when is a good time to switch to a synthetic oil? She only has 20K on her. Should I do it now, later, what's a good brand to use? Thanks in advance for all your help!

If you were looking from the engine bay for the filter you probably won't see it if you don't know exactly where it is. But the filter is easily accessible from the bottom no problems finding it once your under the car.

I switched to Mobil1 on my first oil change at 3,000 as alot of owners here so it shouldn't be a problem.

The filter is just inside the Passenger wheel. If you do your own oil changes, you will find it a great location. I have even done a change with the PT on the ground with no ramps.

As far as changing over to synthetic. Some change right away but most engine builders say to give it about 3000 to 5000 before the change. So you are good to go. I think Mobile 1 is the most commonly used synthetic.

Be ready to use a wrench or something to get the factory installed filter off. They really bury it on there hard.
