Default Bad water pump/head gasket

Help. I took my 2001 PT infor an oil change and I had no coolant. Dealer says head gasket blew and water pump gone. Anyone else had this problem? Gloria J

Welcome to the forum Gloria,

Heck of a way to start off. I take it that you don't have a warranty or else you wouldn't be calling for help. I've seen lots of different problems on the PT forums but never heard of your particular problems with both head gasket and water pump, but parts are parts and some don't last as long as others. I take it that you didn't see or notice a rise in the coolant temperature guage or anti-freeze under the car....both signs of things going wrong. Hopefully the parts you mentioned are all that you need and you didn't run it too long without coolant....it could have been worse. [B)]

No coolant + aluminum head = overheat and warped head. They may be able to resurface it depending on how bad it is or else it will have to be replaced. Mucho dinero probably.
