Default weird 'slipping' problem when breaking or driving.

I have a weird problem, or maybe it is all PT's and its just that I am not used to other cars doing it, but at times it seems my tires a.) fail to get traction when trying to pull out of a driveway (figure this might be due to my tires, and either wet pavement or w.e)
but then my car seems to "slide" at times when breaking, and takes what feels like to me as excessive breaking to stop, or "slides" a bit as it is coming to a stop, not just a rolling to stop, but feels like it is skidding. This happens on any type of surface- a driveway thats smooth, one that is rough, going down free way over passes..

The third issue with slipping.. when driving at times it doesnt feel as if its gripping.. I am thinking its due to my tires, but its just such a weird problem to me that I'm confused about it since I cant reproduce it all the time.

I've talked to one or two people who think it might be a break system issue, but with it slipping when not just breakign but other times I tend to lean twords my tires.

The front two tires are good year eagle ls tires, as well as the back right, and the back left is a good year viva touring (these are what came on it when I bought the car... bought it used).. which all are in like brand-new condition.

edit: forgot to add, it is a 2003 base model, not even a year old based off the original purchase date.

make sure they are the same size and speed rating. I had one set of H speed rated and one set of V (I think)speed rated and the car
(not the GT) handled like poop. They WERE the same size though[:0]

Mis-matched tires? Bad. Bad. Bad.

Goodyear ls is not a performance tire anyway.

But that 3 of one, 1 of another makes me think there was a reason for the odd tire... like major collision damage?

2003: still under warrantee, right?

I would suspect that you have a problem with your brakes. If one brake is grabbing more than another, especially on the front, you will have this problem. I would have my brakes inspected for unequal wear. Yes, it could be a tire problem but it is more likely a brake problem.

You should have it checked ASAP. Take it to a reputable brake shop. Let us know what they find.

The ONLY slipping you should be experiencing is when breaking the front end loose during acceleration! ! ! ! ! ! Serioulsy, as the others have indicated: (1) get the SAME tires all around (2) have the car thoroughly checked out. PT's are really pretty stable vehicles to drive, unless you drive them "on the edge". THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE! Don't drive it in this condition!

Ditto, ZZCruzr... You should get this checked out and fixed as soon as possible before it does something really weird causing you to lose control.

The above bears repeating.
Just what I was thinking -why 1 "oddball" tire? Try carfax.

ran carfax before I bought it.. even got one from the dealership for a second check. No accidents reported. Nothing negative reported.. just said was a former rental. I dont find the one oddball tire an issue- to me it just says it had a flat, and they replaced it with one it had on hand. I went around and checked the tires, ended up pumping them up from around 30 to like 34.. handles and breaks alot better so figuring it was that... havent had the time as I am quite busy with school and work to go have it formally inspected by a mechanic so gotta wait untill mid december to go get it checked out.
